On the left is the railroad bridge in Tri-States,about a few hundred yards above the pedestrian bridge. As I probably have mentioned before, all us kids who were raised in Tri-States used to dive off both bridges. On the right is Front Street, postcard postmarked June 21,1908.
This is the intersection of Pike Street;Orange,East Main and West Main Street where Homers is now.On the left, you
can see the building that used to be where Sherwin Williams is now.Rockland Light & Power had a display room on the ground floor for the sale of appliances.Upstairs there were offices. In later years, just before demolition, the Board of Education was upstairs in this building.
On the left is the Hotel Mitchell, first known as the Fowler House, which stood at the corner of Fowler St. and Jersey Avenue. On the right is Pike Street looking North.Note old automobiles, dirt streets and trolley tracks.
This is the Dutch Reformed Church and Parsonage on East Main Street. Postcard was not used so no postmark. Note dirt street.
This is our underpass beneath the mainline railroad tracks which was built between 1936 and 1939. You can still see the aviation beacon that used to be up on Heaters Hill in Matamoras
and the old natural gas storage tank that used to be on the O & R property in the acre.
