Scenes from the good old days
On the left is East Main Street looking West from Ferguson Avenue.Note house next to
Baptist Church which was owned by Bill Beardsley and his wife. There is a parking lot
there now for the Baptist Church.Note dirt street and trolly car tracks. On the right is the
Hotel Minisink. This postcard was postmarked at Port Jervis,New York on June 8, 1938
and mailed to a lady in Boca Raton, Florida.
On the left is the Rock View Hotel when owned by Louise Reinhardt and her family. This postcard was postmarked on August 19, 1930 and message indicates that people were staying overnight
in Port Jervis and heading for High Point next morning. The one on the right is the Overlook that
used to be up on Route 6.This one was never mailed so no postmark. When I was a kid we used
to hike up here from Horn Road and up over Black Rock and approach overlook from the rear
and we would get a soda and a hotdog.Note how building is on stilts on side of mountain.
On the left is a view of the Delaware River;Route 97 at the Hawks Nest and Pennsylvannia
on the left side of the photo. The Hawks Nest is about 4 miles west of Port Jervis. On the right
is Cherry Island in the Delaware River taken from the Pennsylvannia side.
